Why the Name?

‘LaBeag’ is a contraction of the names of two much-admired and very popular dog breeds. Labs (Labrador Retrievers) are noted for their intelligence, even-temperedness, and persistence. Like Labs, Beagles tend to be intelligent, curious, and amiable, though they can be single-minded and determined in a search.

We publish intelligent literary works which persist with their readers as the warm, long-lasting, intelligent companions that both good dogs and great books should be.
